Using Weebly to Build a Website
Many people today turn to the internet when looking for a professional to hire. I know I do. If you don’t have an appealing website, then you’re going to lose business to someone who does. Most small businesses delay starting a website because they are afraid of the cost and they have little website building experience, but don’t let these things stop you. Website building can be easy and you can start your first website for free. In just a few hours you can have a professional looking website live on the internet. Don’t lose business because people can’t find you on Google. Try out Weebly.
I have tried many different website builders and I found Weebly to be the easiest for beginners. Everything is drag and drop. Do you have a picture you want to add to your site? Just click the picture icon and download. Don’t like where its located? Click the picture and drag it to a new spot.
I own a laundry service and created my first website on Weebly. I integrated Acuity for scheduling and payment (stay tuned for my Acuity article), posted a few google ads, and in just a few weeks I had more orders then I could handle.
Why Choose Weebly When Building Your Website?
Don’t take my word for it. Weebly is free to try, so check out the site and see if it will work for you. You can create a professional looking website quickly by using their templates. It’s also very inexpensive. They offer a free plan and if you don’t need any of the pay options, you can keep the free account forever. It offers it’s own eCommerce solution if your interested in opening your own online store, and it allows integration to every 3rd party application that I’ve tried.
Don’t be the business owner who prevents themselves from getting their own website thinking that the entire process is expensive, time consuming and very sophisticated. In reality, you only need to create four to five website pages to include contact information, the services and products you are offering, testimonials and reviews, and a description of what your business is about.
How to Build a Weebly Website?
To ease your worry, let me walk you through a few of the steps you need to follow in building your own Weebly website:
1. Signing Up
Visit the official Weebly website. Click the button for “Get Started” and you will immediately see the sign-up screen. Fill out your complete name, your email as well as your password. After that, click the button, “Sign up”. This will take you to a page asking you if you want to have blog, website or store.
2. Picking a Theme
Your next step is to figure out the type of theme you want to use. There are several important considerations you need to think about when picking the best theme. Is it user friendly? Does the style match your business? Take a look at other popular websites in your field and use them for inspiration. Once you have a vision, take a look at the themes offered on Weebly . They offer themes for every type of business, so look around and pick what your customers will like. Don’t feel pressured. You can change to another theme anytime.
3. Selecting Your Domain Name Option
Next you need to select a domain option. If your new to this whole website thing, take the free Weebly address and play around. If you have already purchased a web address on GoDaddy or another domain registrar, you can enter it on this screen and Weebly will give you step by step instructions to link your domain to your website. If you would like to have your own domain and have not yet purchased one, I recommend that you go directly through Weebly. That way they will do all of the setup for you. I suggest using the name of your business as your web address, so if your business is Yummy Chocolate Confections (I do love my chocolate), then your web address should be www.yummychocolateconfections.com.
4. Create Your Website
Once, you have selected your own domain name, you will be taken to the Weebly builder screen. This is the page where you’re going to do the major construction of your website. Everything is drag and drop so play around and you’ll have the hang of it in no time. Weebly also has fantastic help videos as well as a support team. No question is too small and no question is too big for them. I’ve emailed them more times then I can count with silly questions that they have happily helped me with.
5. Publishing Your Website
Once you have created your perfect website, it’s time to publish it. Just click the publish button. Its really that simple! Remember that you can make changes anytime you want by visiting the website builder of Weebly, so don’t be afraid to publish.
