How do you get the word out after publishing a new blog post? By sharing on social media sites right. But there are so many social media platforms. How do you find the time?
Sharing your posts is simple really, you have two options, you can either share your blog posts manually on each networking sites or you can share them automatically.
Sharing manually is nice, because you can add a personal touch to each post but it is a lot of work and it is time-consuming.
There are days you simply do not have the time, and that is where automatic sharing comes in handy!
There are basically 2 ways you can share your blog post automatically on WordPress.
- You can use the built settings on WordPress
- You can use Plugins
How do you go about it? Here are the steps:
1. Built in Settings on WordPress:
Log in to your WordPress blog as an Admin.
On the Menu navigation Section, located at the left hand side of your Dashboard. Click or hover your mouse on Settings, click on Sharing
There are a number of social networking sites that is available to choose from;
Connect your social network accounts with your blog
You can connect your accounts on these sites to your blog and when your posts are published, they will automatically be shared on these sites as well.
Look for the media site you have an account with and click the Connect button next to site’s name.
Authorize WordPress.com to use your account
After clicking the Connect button, you will directed to an Authorization page where you can give WordPress the permission to connect with your account.
For the purpose of this tutorial, I clicked to connect my LinkedIn account and below is the authorization page, you can follow the same process for any networking site you choose, type in your account details and click Allow Access.
That’s it, you have successfully connected your social media account with your blog.
Just have it in mind that anytime you click the Publish button to publish your posts, it is automatically shared on your networking sites as well.
2. Using Plugins
Plugins are tools that you can use to enhance features on your WordPress.
These tools are also available to automate your post sharing with networking sites.
There are several of these plugins you can choose from. Some are paid and some are free.
You can search for those plugins on Google to view ratings and reviews.
You can also search for a plugin on WordPress itself, all you have to do is to click or hover your mouse on the Plugins Menu, click Add New.
Search for your favorite plugin or simply use a keyword like “sharing” to search for suitable plugins, click install to install the plugin.
I always recommend checking the reviews and the compatibility of a plugin before downloading it. You want to keep your site in great working order and some plugins can hurt your site.
That’s it! Now use all of the time you save to write even more fantastic content. Happy Blogging. 🙂
