Welcome to the Introvert Blogging Series!
If you’ve read one of my interviews before, skip down to the juicy part. If not, keep reading. 🙂 I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been a people person. I’d much rather read a book then go to a party. I’m much more comfortable with a small group of people I know then I am in a big crowd trying to make small talk. Don’t get me wrong. I can talk the talk. I’ve worked in management and made small talk with your groups, but it was absolutely exhausting for me. I would much rather make a huge excel spreadsheet that calculates all sorts of scenarios…and then email it to the person it’s for.
If this sounds like you, you might be an introvert.
Will I ever be a successful blogger or will my introverted tendencies keep me from marketing myself to the fullest? So, I started the search for a few introverted bloggers who would be willing to share their tricks of the trade………
1. Can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
“My blog, Shiny Things & Paper, is somewhere for me to do book reviews as I receive some for free in exchange for reviews, as well as a place for me to post other things I enjoy such as stationery, pens, pretty things, etc.”
2. Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
“It’s definitely a hobby as I just started it and have no real clue what I’m doing so it’s mostly me just winging it!”
3. What is the hardest part of blogging as an introvert?
“The hardest part for me blogging as an introvert is that I am truly afraid of anyone I know seeing it. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and am never really satisfied with my product so I’m always critiquing and thinking it’s not ready but eventually you just have to hit publish, right!?”
4. What was the most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?
“I’d say the most challenging part of blogging is getting the website set up to my liking (see #3!!) and just rolling with things that may not be exactly what I want or envision. Oh, and I suppose content can be difficult at first too, until you really find your niche.”
5. How do you network as an introverted blogger? Social media? Blogging conferences?
“I literally haven’t networked at all. I don’t even know where to begin and really want my social media accounts to be separate from my personal so as to avoid people I know seeing my blog at the moment. (see #3 again!!)”
6. How many of your friends and family know about your blog?
“My husband knows about it and literally, that’s it. He’s my biggest supporter though and I am thankful that he doesn’t mind me bouncing my frivolous content off him. 😉
7. Why do you think introverts make great bloggers?
“Great question but I’m not sure of the answer. I think introverts tend to be very self-contained and completely happy with themselves so can spend the time alone getting their messages prepped and ready to share. It’s the sharing part that we might have the hardest time with.”
