POST MAY CONTAIN AFFILIATE LINKS
For those of you who are new to the blogging world, MailChimp is one of the top rated email marketing tools available. I use MailChimp for all of my email needs. I’m a mom running a blog, so I don’t have a ton of free time. I love the automation. Set it and forget it! It’s a bloggers dream come true. You can interact with all of your readers without having to spend the time writing thousands of emails every day. It helps me to manage my subscribers, send emails, and track results, which all help me to generate steady income.
MailChimp’s Amazing Features
MailChimp lists 6 major features (Create, Manage, Deliver, Analytics, Mobile, and Share), but I’d like to dive into their sales pitch list and tell you what I have actually found most useful for my blog.
First – IT HAS A FREE VERSION – Yup – This is always my favorite part of anything that I’m thinking about buying. The advertising all looks great, but I really like to get into a program and try it out before I spend my hard-earned dollars on it.
Automation is my next favorite feature (free is always my first favorite). The automation platform is very easy to use. I use this feature to send free e-books and free printouts to readers when they sign up for my mailing list. I can automatically follow-up with customers after a purchase or sign-up and recommend other products that they’ll love and I also surprise my best customers with coupons triggered by their shopping behavior.
If your thinking, “but I’m a blogger, I don’t have any products”, think again. If your making income through affiliate marketing then your affiliate products are your products. Are you an affiliate for a great web hosting company and an amazing website design company? Connect them! Automatically send people, who sign up for the web hosting, information about the website design company.
A/B Testing is another amazing feature that helps me to optimize my email marketing. It’s scientific testing for my email campaigns. It lets me send out essentially the same message to different groups in my mailing list. I make small changes, like the subject line, and then send each version to a group. MailChimp tracks which subject line gets more hits. Once the test is over, MailChimp will send the winning message to the rest of my mailing list automatically. I’m not an expert in email marketing, so every training tool is great. This one lets me test what I think might work and then use the best possible version of what I wanted to say.
As a blogger, I feel tracking is a must. I love to track anything that I can. I love blogging and I love to see what my readers are enjoying. MailChimp tracks some email data, but it also allows me to link my emails to Google analytics in an advanced way. This lets me get all of the same data about my emails as I can get from visitors to my site.
MailChimp gives me the opportunity to sort my entire list by different criteria. This is great for me because I have readers with different interests. Most of my readers are very interested in making money online but I have a subset of readers who are also interested in getting healthy. When I send out messages about blogging, I send them to my entire list. When I send out messages about getting healthy, I only send to my subset of readers who are interested in that topic. I only like to send people information that they might be interested in, so this helps me keep my emails focused to my readers needs.
Have you ever wanted to be right next to your readers while they were looking through your blog to say “if you love this post, you’ll probably love this other product too? Now you can send that exact message in an email! OK, maybe not that exact message, but you get the idea. 🙂 I can’t be everywhere at once, but my MailChimp code can be, allowing me to say the right thing exactly when my readers want to hear it.
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and other social media are the new way of sharing information. People spend more time on computers, virtually connecting to the world then ever before. If you’re not on social media, then your missing out! MailChimp makes it easy to share emails across social networks. I connected MailChimp to my Twitter and Facebook accounts and automatically post my campaigns on those networks. I also place Tweet, Like, and other social buttons in my campaigns to let my readers share the love.
So, How can MailChimp help bloggers?
That’s easy! MailChimp lets you set it and forget it. You can be everywhere, helping everyone, even while your sleeping. You can be suggesting products to one reader while welcoming another reader. Another reader can be sharing a post they loved on Facebook while another is reading a free e-book that they just received. You wake up, well rested, with happy readers, and more time to work on other things, like today’s newest post. And don’t forget – IT HAS A FREE VERSION 🙂
